The biopolymer handle is a revolutionary invention from Germany. While most biopolymers are made from valuable foodstuffs such as corn, this biopolymer is made from plant remains that are not intended for food. This makes it a sustainable replacement for plastics made from mineral oils.

Robert Herder knives are of such quality that they provide years of cutting pleasure together with a great retro design. The thin grinding method makes it easy to sharpen the knife yourself, so you are always assured of good, sharp tools.

Properties Carbon steel

Carbon steel means that the steel has a high carbon content, which has the advantage that the knife is harder than stainless steel and remains sharp for longer. These knives are delivered from the factory oiled so that they are protected against rust. When using this knife, rust will initially form, which can be removed with a rust eraser or other fine abrasive. After use, wash the knives by hand with a non-aggressive cleaning agent, dry and apply a maintenance oil. For example Ballistol.

Over time, a dark patina will form on the blade and the knife will not rust further.

For proper maintenance, we recommend using the “Robert Herder Maintenance Set for Carbon Knives”.
